Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, is India's official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards.

'Period. End of Sentence,' short film set in Indian village featuring original 'Pad Man', gets Oscar nod

India has found a tiny place in the Oscar sun this year. Rayka Zehtabchi and Melissa Berton’s Period. End of Sentence, which is among the five films nominated in the documentary (short subject), has a distinct India connect.

It has Guneet Monga and Mandakini Kakar on board as two of the executive producers and Shaan Vyas as one of the co-producers.

India-set Film 'Period. End of Sentence', Featuring the Real-life Pad Man, Lands Oscar Nomination

Period. End of Sentence, a film set in India about the taboos around menstruation and featuring the real 'Pad Man' Arunachalam Muruganathan, has made it to the list of Oscar nominations 2019.

The film is among the five nominees in the Documentary Short Subject category. Other nominees include Black Sheep, End Game, Lifeboat and A Night At The Garden.

Period... is executive produced by Guneet Monga and is co-produced by Monga's Sikhya Entertainment, which has backed films like The Lunchbox and Masaan.

Javed Jaaferi, Johnny Lever and Sanjay Mishra, who are also part of the film, feature in the first poster ofTotal Dhamaal.
