US Box Office Collection: 'Kick 2', 'Srimanthudu' Perform Better than Bollywood Biggies 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', 'Brothers', 'Drishyam'
A collage of 'Kick 2' and 'Srimanthudu'.IB Times India
Telugu movies "Kick 2" and "Srimanthudu" dominated the US box office among the Indian movies last weekend. The two Tollywood films performed better than Bollywood's big films like "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", "Brothers" and "Drishyam".
At the US box office, "Kick 2" topped the list among the Indian films by ranking at the 28th position. It had 99 screens, from which it collected $307,195 (Rs 2.04 crore) in its first weekend. The turnout was pretty good for this Ravi Teja starrer as there was a good hype around the flick.
Mahesh Babu's "Srimanthudu" came second among the Indian films at the US box office. Ranked at 38, the Telugu movie did a business of $94,498 (Rs 62.57 lakh) from 46 screens. The total collection by the movie stands at $2,820,214 (Rs 18.80 crore), which is quite a remarkable achievement for a South Indian film.
Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra starrer "Brothers", ranked at 42nd position, earned only $60,694 (Rs 40.19 lakh) from 112 screens. The signs of the movie slowing down at collection centres are visible and it appears like the film is unlikely to have a long run in the US. The total business by the Hindi movie by the end of its second weekend stands at $433,191 (Rs 2.88 crore).
The latest Hindi release "All is Well", ranked at 44th position, in its opening weekend earned $59,625 (Rs 39.76 lakh) from 46 screens. It is followed by "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (47th position), which raked in $46,478 (Rs 30.77 lakh). The Salman Khan starrer has collected $6,209,505 (Rs 41.41 crore) by the end of its sixth weekend.
Ajay Devgn's "Drishyam" has collected $525,948 ( Rs 3.50 crore) so far, "Baahubali" (Hindi version) has raked in $466,176 (Rs 3.10 crore), and Tamil movie "Vaalu" has collected $33,203 (Rs 22.14 lakh).

6 underrated Bollywood movies you can't afford to miss
Some movies might not be able to garner the limelight of cinema but still manage to carve a niche. Unconventional themes may bring about a difference in the popularity with respect to mainstream movies but these 6 under-rated movies are worth watching.
Sikandar:
'Sikandar' is a beautiful movie about a 14-year old boy Sikandar Raza (played by Parzan Dastur) who lives in Kashmir. The movie is an insight into how a child’s psychology is molded, how terrorists are made and how an innocent fights terrorism.
Ramji Londonwale:This movie is a story of an excellent cook Ramji (played by Madhavan), whose dream is to get his sister settled. After getting her sister married, the groom’s family who had demands for dowry asks Ramji to go to London, as a cook and work for a multi millionaire London based Indian family, to earn and give a part of his income as compensation for the dowry he owes. He wins the hearts of everybody in London and after a series of interesting struggles he manages to win a cooking competition and subsequently gets his passport, visa and work permit. As he takes it as his responsibility to return to his village and help in the upliftment of his community-mates, he returns back to India with his love interest Samira (played by Samita Bangargi) and opens his own restaurant.
Aamir:
Who says a man writes his own destiny? That’s the question the movie will leave you with. It revolves around a young Muslim man, Dr. Aamir Ali (Rajeev Khandelwal), who finds himself at the mercy of Islamic extremists who are planning on a blast in the city of Mumbai. The movie reflects how responsibility taken by one person can save the lives of many and what that courageous man who takes a step forward to do the right/best possible might have to put at stake/sacrifice.
Main Meri Patni Aur Woh:
The movie revolves around a married couple Mithilesh (played by Rajpal Yadav) and Veena (played by Rituparna Sengupta) and is about the insecurities and feelings of jealousy that Mithilesh goes through because of an unconventional reason of him being shorter than his wife. However, it’s their confessions that bring them closer as a couple.
Mera Pehle Pehla Pyar:
It’s a rom-com based on a high school boy, Rohan (played by Ruslaan Mumtaz) who falls in love with a beautiful new student, Ayesha Mehra (played by Hazel Crowney) and Rohan’s friendship with his classmates Vasu, Sudhir and Javed all from St. Lawrence High School. It’s a movie that revolves around teenage friendships and love. Though a clichéd topic as it may seem, it has a fresh breath of cinematography and crazy relatable humor.
Socha Na Tha:
'Socha Na Tha' is a movie which portrays how things that are never even thought of happen. It's the story of Viren (played by Abhay Deol) and Aditi (played by Ayesha Takia) who lie in their marriageable age group. Their parents fix a meeting for them to know each other but both have their own reasons for disagreeing on getting married. However, they do fall in love later.

Gulzar: Man who never set boundaries for himself
It's Bajirao Mastani vs Dilwale this Christmas
“I saw it (the teaser) in Bulgaria (where he was filming his next last month) when it came out online. My assistant director showed it to me, and I loved it. It’s looking great, and it’s grand. It’s looking like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. He is a great director, and he has always made movies that boast of a great canvas. So, instead of saying, ‘Kya hai? Kuch bhi nahi hai (what is this? It is nothing)’, I will honestly say that it’s a great promo, and that the film will work,” says Rohit.
But won’t the clash with BM affect his film’s business? “Yes, but everyone comes with their own destiny. Ideally, it (the clash) shouldn’t have happened, but now that it is happening, all we can do is be positive. A lot of circus will happen (laughs). And that circus won’t be from either of the films’ offices, but in the industry and the media, (sic)” says the director.
