Top 10 Child Artists who become stars


Tara Sutaria: Tara Sutaria started her television career as a child artiste in 2010 with Disney India’s Big Bada Boom and went on to star in the channel's sitcoms The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir (2012) and Oye Jassie (2013). Tara made her film debut in 2019 with the teen drama Student of the Year 2. She is also recording music in films for India as well abroad, which includes advertisements and her own original work. Tara has sung for acclaimed films such as Taare Zameen Par, Guzaarish and David. Her Song Slippin' Through My Fingers is part of the Ashwin Gidwani Production of Bharat Dhabholkar's Blame It On Yashraj. She is surely doing wonders.


Sana Saeed: Sana Saeed first appeared as a child artiste in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and continued to do so in films Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (2000) and Badal (2000). She also appeared in television shows such as Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na (2008) and Lo Ho Gayi Pooja Iss Ghar Ki (2008). In 2012, Saeed made her screen debut as an adult in a supporting role in Karan Johar's Student Of The Year, which emerged as a box-office commercial success. She has appeared in many reality shows as well. The Little Anjali we all loved has blossomed into a beautiful young star!



























Aamir Khan: He first appeared as a child artiste in uncle Nasir Hussain’s film Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973). As an adult, his first feature film was the experimental film Holi (1984). He began a full time acting career with the tragic romance Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). His performance in the thriller film Raakh (1989) earned him a National Film Award in the special mention category. He established himself as a leading actor in the 1990s by appearing in a number of commercially successful films, including the romantic drama Dil (1990) and Raja Hindustani (1996), for which he won his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Moving on to textured roles and path-breaking films, like Lagaan, P.K., 3 Idiots, Taare Zameen Par and Dangal, his stature as a producer and actor has only grown.



Hrithik Roshan: The Greek god of Bollywood started young at the age of six when his grandfather slyly cast him in the 1980 film Aasha. Duggu, as he's fondly called, then played a large role in Bhagwaan Dada (1986). The film starred Rajinikanth and Sridevi. Hrithik played Rajini's adopted son in the film. He displayed his dance skills in this film itself. He made his debut in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai in 2000 and the rest is history.



Neetu Singh: She started her acting career at the age of eight in Suraj (1966) but came into the limelight two years later with Do Kaliyan in 1968. Her other notable films as a child actress were Dus Lakh, Waris and Pavitra Paapi. She made her adult debut as a leading actress with the film Rickshawala in 1973 and went on to appear in 50 films as the lead heroine between 1973 to 1983. She married co-star Rishi Kapoor in 1980. At 21, she retired from the film industry to raise her children – Riddhima and Ranbir. She made her comeback to films after 26 years in the romantic drama Love Aaj Kal (2009), comedy Do Dooni Chaar (2010) and Besharam (2013)… all with husband Rishi.




Kunal Kemmu: Kunal Kemmu began his career as a child actor appearing in the television serial Gul Gulshan Gulfam in 1987. He appeared as a child actor in films such as Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993) Raja Hindustani (1995) and Zakhm (1998). He received great praise from the audience and critics for his role in Zakhm. He made his debut as a leading man in the 2005 film Kalyug, which was both critically and commercially successful. His other releases were Traffic Signal and Dhol. He was last seen in Kalank.



Urmila Matondkar: Urmila Matondkar started her career as a child artiste back in the 80s. with Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug (1980) and followed it by featuring in the films like the much-acclaimed Masoom (1983), Bhavna (1984), Sur Sangam (1985) and Bade Ghar Ki Beti (1989). Later she worked in Malayalam film Chanakya opposite Kamal Hassan. The film was a blockbuster and her acting was praised by the audience. Known as the Rangeela girl, she went on to become a top commercial actor with a host of films.




Shahid Kapoor: He enjoyed fame at a young age, when he got featured in Aryan Band’s song video, Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra. Shahid’s first screen appearance was in a commercial for a health drink when he was 11. Years later, he appeared in a Pepsi commercial with Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol and made his acting debut in 2003 with the film Ishq Vishq.

Today, he has an extensive filmography, which includes films like Haider, Kaminey, Jab We Met, Udta Punjab and the blockbuster Kabir Singh. From being a background dancer in movies like Dil to Pagal Hai and Taal to ruling the film industry, Shahid has come a long way.

























Imran Khan: Imran Khan has made his debut as a child artiste in movies like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). Khan made his acting debut in 2008 with the romantic comedy Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, which was a critical and commercial success. His performance in the film won him the Filmfare Award for Best Debut (Male). He then starred in a number of commercially successful films like I Hate Luv Storys (2010), Delhi Belly (2011) and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011).



Kamal Haasan: Kamal Haasan is an Indian film actor, scriptwriter, director, producer and choreographer, who works primarily in the Tamil cinema. He debuted as a child actor in the 1960 Tamil film Kalathur Kannamma, which won him the President’s Gold Medal. Since then he acted in a lot of movies in several languages including Malayalam, Hindi, Bengali, and Telugu. After his debut in the Hindi film industry with Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Haasan went on to act in several Bollywood films including Sadma, Chachi 420, Sagar and Vishwaroopam among others. Today he’s regarded as a thespian.
