Internet's discovery, Ranu Mondal, the singer who went viral for her melodious voice that was heard outside Kolkata Railway Station is winning hearts in Bollywood. After recording a song with Himesh Reshammiya, Ranu is all set to showcase the story of her life on big screen.
As per reports, Journalist-turned-independent filmmaker Hrishikesh Mondal has proposed a biopic titled, "Platform Singer Ranu Mondal" that will be based on the singer's journey to becoming an internet sensation.
According to a report by IANS, National Award Winning Bengali actress Sudipta Chakraborty has been approached to play the role of Ranu.
"Yes, I have been offered the film. However, I am yet to receive a script. I will decide if I want to play the character only after reading the script," Sudipta told IANS.
"People are curious to know about Ranu Mondal's life. She became a singing sensation overnight thanks to social media, so people are very interested to know more about her. Also, the film will highlight the power of social media in the present times, which has turned roadside singer Ranu into a star," said Hrishikesh
The biopic will be shot in Ranaghat, Mumbai, and Kolkata and possibly release by next February.
