SELENA GOMEZ'S RESPONSE TO TROLLS SHAMING HER POST-SURGERY BODY WILL MAKE YOU LOVE HER FOREVER

ICYMI, Selena Gomez is currently holidaying in Australia and girl is looking good.

This weekend Sel was spotted living her best life on a yacht with some mates sailing across Sydney Harbour. The outing was the first time Sel publicly showed the scar from her post-kidney transplant complication surgery.

But, 'cos the internet's the home to some shitty trolls, rather than applauding Sel's body confidence, they've been slamming her with body shaming comments saying she looks 'thick' and pregnant.
Ever the strong woman, Sel wasn't here for their remarks and responded by sharing an intimate video on her Instagram account, showing her own experience of the same trip across the Harbour, focussing on her friends and the incredible sights from the water.

Her caption then addressing the trolls is so spot on.

"The beauty myth- an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern woman in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfill society's impossible definition of flawless beauty," Sel wrote
"I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails."

While she definitely shouldn't have to even address these mofos, we love how open she's been about the pressure women are under to confirm to a particular standard of 'beauty', while also pointing out how utterly fucked it is.

Following her kidney transplant, Selena and her best friend (turned donor) Francia Raisa did an interview together for the Today show, in which Sel discussed the ways her body's changed throughout the process:

"I have a bit of a protrusion that will be there forever," she said. "And that means I'm going to have to dress differently. It was really, really massive at first. I ended up having to get it drained [initially to reduce the size]."

Sel, your bravery and candid account of everything that's gone down over the last year makes us love you even more than we thought possible.
