Filmmaker Mani Ratnam was admitted to a Delhi hospital on Tuesday due to cardiac problems.
When contacted, the hospital authorities said they had been asked not to give any further information but confirmed that the director was stable and sleeping. Mani Ratnam’s family, too, was unwilling to divulge any details.
Ratnam's recent Tamil film, OK Kanmani (O Kadhal Kanmani) has been doing wonders at the box office and collected over Rs 14 crore in just four days of its release of April 15.
In his career spanning over more than three decades, Mani Ratnam has helmed around 20 movies.
He is also credited for launching stars like musical maestro AR Rahman, actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and R Madhavan among others.
Some of his best known films in Hindi include Bombay (1995- Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala), Roja (1992- Madhu, Arvind Swamy and Pankaj Kapoor), Dil Se (1998- Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala and Preity Zinta), Guru (2007- Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai) and Yuva (2004 - Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Esha Deol and Vivek Oberoi).
