The blockbuster Aamir Khan starrer PK directed by Rajkumar Hirani broke most of the box-office records in India as well as overseas. The film was the widest release ever for a Hindi movie releasing in almost 5000 screens all over the world. PK released in almost 40 countries in more than 800 screens overseas in countries like UK, Middle East, North America, Netherlands, Australia, Singapore as well as well for the Asian audience. The movie also turned out to be the venture to release in China with the most number of prints for a Hindi film. Now the film is all geared up to release in Germany.
Record-breaking director Rajkumar Hirani shared on microblogging website twitter about the news, ‘‘Guten Tag Germany! Excited to announce that #PK will hit cinema screens in Germany on April 16th! #PKInGermany @utvfilms’. Hirani also shared a picture of the poster of the movie with certain details written in German.
The film based on religion, beliefs and love has broken the record for the highest collections in almost all countries except Malaysia where Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year leads. PK went on to collect almost 125 crores from the overseas collections.
According to reports, the performance of Hindi films in German has been on the decline. The trend of releasing films in Germany had started with Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham which received a tremendous response there. Some of other Shahrukh’s films like Kal Ho Na Ho and My Name is Khan have also done well at the box-office but all the other films have under-performed in German market. Considering the manner in which PK has stormed all the markets, it seems that German audience will go back to the theaters for Bollywood films.
